Do these four things before you put anything on it.
1. Add your SSH key and set `PasswordAuthentication no` in sshd_config.
2. Enable a firewall and open only the ports you actually use.
3. Turn on unattended security updates for your distribution.
4. Set up off-server backups - a snapshot on the same machine is not a backup.
Our DDoS filtering protects the network path to your server. It does not protect you from a weak root password.
